Governor Dauda Lawal, on Friday, unveiled the fully renovated General Hospital Anka and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing quality and affordable healthcare across Zamfara State.
A statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, on Friday noted that the commissioning ceremony was marked by the Governor’s call for effective management of the newly upgraded facility and his assurance to the people of continued investment in critical infrastructure.
Speaking at the event, Lawal highlighted the scope of the renovation project, which he said was completed within 12 months by a reputable indigenous company.
“The rehabilitation of this hospital began last year and was awarded and executed by an indigenous and highly reputable company. The investment has transformed the hospital into a modern healthcare facility with state-of-the-art equipment. This will undoubtedly enhance the quality of medical care for our citizens in Anka and surrounding communities,” the governor stated.
Part of the listed renovated sections of the hospital includes the GOPD/Old Admin Block, Male Ward, Female Ward, Pharmacy Block, New Gate Fence, and a link corridor connecting the female ward, X-ray, and Theatre Block. New constructions at the hospital also include the Accident and Emergency Unit, Laboratory, Eye and Dental Clinic, Maternity/Old Lab Ward, Antenatal Care (ANC), New Admin Block, Mosque, MD’s house, and Paediatric Ward blocks.
Governor Lawal described the hospital as a fulfillment of one of his administration’s promises to deliver the dividends of democracy and improve the well-being of citizens.
“To the people of Anka and surrounding communities, this project is a fulfillment of one of our promises to deliver dividends of democracy and improve the livelihood of citizens,” he said.
He also reiterated his government’s developmental goals across sectors.
“We will continue to prioritise development issues, ensuring that our people have access to quality and affordable healthcare, education, agriculture, roads, and other critical infrastructure across the state,” he added.
Addressing the hospital staff and management, the Governor urged them to take ownership of the facility.
“To the staff and management of General Hospital Anka, I call on you to ensure this facility’s effective management and maintenance. I also urge you to work tirelessly to provide quality healthcare services to our people,” he added.
