A Nigerian-born American politician, Dr Oye Owolewa, has called on elected representatives to look into the alleged bullying and harassment of a community leader in the United States, Bishop Andre Grey.
Owolewa, a US Democratic representative in the District of Columbia, said Grey, who had been catering to survivors of addiction, was harassed and threatened by an undisclosed person to abandon his residence.
The politician made this known in a press statement on his Instagram page on Wednesday, adding that the community leader had provided shelter for 30 vulnerable men.
“Bishop Grey alleges that a third-party agent has pursued illegal court action, falsified his role and has posted erroneous eviction papers all around the group home,” Owolewa said.
“Bishop Grey strongly believes all this work is being done in the effort to liquidate the men’s shelter for a quick cash grab.”
The politician also called the journalists to investigate the matter, and asked “every elected official in DC to stop this mistreatment of our vulnerable neighbours.”
“We must come together to protect Bishop Grey and his clients,” Owolewa added.
