Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor are keen on bringing Paul Onuachu back to the club, almost two seasons after he featured for them on loan.

Onuachu has been heavily linked with them in the last 12 months after his loan spell from Southampton two seasons ago.

That season, Onuachu contributed 15 goals and four assists in 21 appearances. One of his goals was also nominated for the FIFA Puskas Award.

At the end of the loan deal, Trabzonspor tried to make the deal permanent, but they failed to match Southampton’s demands.

This summer, the speculations have continued, even as Southampton have been relegated from the English Premier League, and Onuachu’s value has dropped with one year left on his contract.

Now, it seems Trabzonspor are close to finalizing the transfer.

According to Fanatik, Trabzonspor are set to conclude the transfer, with Onuachu set to sign a three-year deal.

Last summer, Trabzonspor gave up on the signing of Onuachu after the club president, Ertuğrul Doğan, said the club would not meet Southampton’s  €15m asking price for the striker.

On Transfermarkt, Onuachu is valued at €6m, and Trabzonspor are expected to pay around this fee to make the deal happen.

In the just-concluded season, Trabzonspor finished seventh in the Super Lig.

For the Nigerian striker, he finished last season as Southampton’s highest goal scorer in the league with four goals.
