The Olota of Ota, Awori Kingdom, Oba Abdulkabir Obalanlege, has been conferred with a Lifetime Achievement Award by City People Magazine in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of Ota and the traditional institution in Ogun State.
Presenting the award, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of City People Magazine, Seye Kehinde, said the honour reflects the organisation’s commitment to celebrating individuals who have made significant impact in their communities and professions.
“For nearly 30 years, we have used the City People Awards for Excellence to celebrate distinguished Nigerians. Oba Obalanlege stands out for his remarkable leadership, service to the Awori people, and tireless efforts to uplift traditional institutions in Nigeria,” Kehinde stated.
Oba Obalanlege, a Professor of Mass Communication, ascended the throne in November 2017. Since then, he has spearheaded numerous socio-economic and cultural initiatives that have enhanced the visibility, unity, and development of Ota and the wider Awori Kingdom.
The monarch currently serves as Chairman of both the Awori Obas Forum in Ogun State and the Ado-Odo/Ota Traditional Council.
