Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and other notable figures have poured encomiums on Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, as he marked his 65th birthday and six years in office, lauding his commitment to good governance and development.
Speaking in Abeokuta, Obasanjo applauded Abiodun’s leadership, particularly his role in hosting a successful National Sports Festival, which the elder statesman described as a legacy event for the state and the country.
“To our governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, once again, I offer my deepest personal appreciation,” Obasanjo stated. “Your leadership commitment and unwavering dedication have delivered not just a festival but also a legacy.
You have raised the standard for all to follow.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, described Abiodun as a transformational leader whose passion and hands-on governance have continued to yield results.
“He gives 100% to anything he sets his mind to. We thank God that we are seeing the fruits of his hard work,” she said.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, commended the governor for fostering peace, economic growth, and social cohesion across the state.
“The governor’s consistent development strides and people-centered policies have made Ogun a model for other states,” he remarked.
Talabi highlighted that there had been no workers’ strike in the state for the past 18 months, attributing the industrial harmony to Abiodun’s respect for workers’ welfare and his proactive governance style.
Also praising the governor was the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, who underscored the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, civil service reform, and industrial development.
“The ISEYA mantra has become a blueprint for purposeful governance,” he said, noting prompt salary payments, pension support, and workforce training initiatives.
Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, emphasised the administration’s reach across all 20 local government areas, citing significant improvements in road infrastructure, healthcare delivery, and affordable housing.
“From over 4,000 housing units to 177 rehabilitated primary healthcare centers and the monumental Gateway International Airport, the impact is evident,” he stated.
Others who joined in celebrating the governor include Commissioner for Women Affairs, Adijat Oladapo-Oladapo, who praised the rapid economic transformation under Abiodun, and Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Olukayode Akinmade, who said the state has enjoyed peace and unprecedented investor confidence due to the administration’s strategic positioning.
