Nollywood actress and producer, Biola Adebayo, shocked fans when she publicly announced her separation from her husband, Oluseyi Akinrinde, on June 3, 2025. The announcement, which came on Akinrinde’s birthday, revealed that the couple had already been separated for over a year, since April 2024.
In an Instagram post, Adebayo shared that they had agreed to peacefully co-parent their two-year-old son, whom they welcomed in April 2023 through a surrogate mother.
“Happy birthday to my ex-husband, and my baby daddy. I pray that grace will abound unto you, I pray you find peace in all your ways, may God continue to light your path and bless you beyond your expectations in Jesus’ name. Ye,s you heard me right!
“My husband and I have been separated since April last year but we have decided to maturely and peacefully co-parent our dear son, who means everything to us. To everyone who feels disappointed, I’m really sorry. Please keep us in your prayers.
“Please note, we never! I mean, never had any physical abuse or violence issues from either of us. (Seyi has never laid a finger on me, and I never did as well).
“While I go about making other people happy in the day, my pillow is drenched with my own tears almost every night for the past 14 months but I gain strength from Christ who loves me eternally and gave himself for me. Let’s learn to be kind to people, you have no idea what others are going through until they say it. Say unto the righteous, all is well! Peace.”
Despite the controversy, Adebayo has maintained a calm and dignified tone, focusing on healing and protecting her son’s wellbeing. However, while her estranged husband, Oluseyi, has remained silent on the issue, his elder sister, Florence Akinrinde, broke the silence with a touching post of her own on June 4, expressing love for her brother and throwing subtle jabs at Biola.
She stated that though she had been inundated with calls over the issues, her brother “still want peace despite being bastardised and crucified wrongly”.
Back in 2023, Adebayo had spoken on her YouTube channel about how she met and married Akinrinde within six months.
This isn’t Adebayo’s first public separation. She had previously disclosed details about an alleged first relationship with a man named Ola, explaining that the relationship ended due to genotype incompatibility. She also denied that they were officially married.
