A multiple crash involving six vehicles, has killed one and left several others injured, The PUNCH gathered.

An eyewitness at the scene who identified as Bola, said the accident involved a trailer carrying drinks, a Gilmor Construction staff truck, and other vehicles, killing a young boy and injuring others.

According to him, the truck ran into the vehicles in its front and cleared several others, about 60 meters to the Nyanya pedestrian bridge at around 6.15 pm.

Bola further narrated that many onlookers at the scene ran helter skelter, believing it was another tanker explosion, adding that when the situation was calmer, both truck drivers had escaped and removed the plate numbers of the vehicles.

“I was in the stampede. I ran away for dear life first. Only the small boy under the trailer died. People ran in different directions helter skelter, some jumping out of the vehicles thinking it’s another tanker explosion.

“Then when the situation became clear, people were now returning to find out what happened. The drivers of the two trailers have run away and the two plate numbers both removed.

“One woman who escaped the accident was shaking and shivering simultaneously. I saw her in that state, but couldn’t help her. I called a woman to help me hold her. She fell on the woman’s chest weeping uncontrollably. I made sure she was able to call her husband and I left,” he said.

As of the time of filing this report, the Head of the Public Affairs of the FCT Emergency Management Department, Nkechi Isa, could not be reached.
