For the second consecutive year, the Grooming Endowment Trust has reaffirmed its commitment to the education sector through its Teachers Appreciation Programme, awarding grants to outstanding educators working in underserved communities.
Following a nationwide call for applications, a rigorous selection process involving multiple reviews and interviews by a qualified panel led to the selection of 12 exceptional teachers. Each recipient received a grant of N200,000 to support their personal and professional needs.
A statement shared with Society Plus noted that “GETAP is designed to recognise the dedication and impact of teachers, particularly those operating in under-resourced schools, by offering financial empowerment to ease the burdens they face in and outside the classroom”.
The Operations Lead at GET, Chikezie Ugwu, said, “Teachers are the backbone of our society, especially those who work tirelessly with limited resources. This initiative is our way of saying ‘thank you’ and ensuring they know their efforts do not go unnoticed.”
