Galatasaray have intensified their pursuit of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen following his refusal to join Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Turkish champions have submitted a formal contract proposal to Osimhen, who recently concluded his on loan at the Istanbul club from Napoli, according to reports from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.
Galatasaray are reportedly looking to secure a permanent deal for the 26-year-old as part of a bold summer rebuild aimed at boosting their attacking options.
“Galatasaray have sent contract proposals to both Leroy Sané and Victor Osimhen,” Romano posted on X.
“Negotiations are ongoing while Sané’s case remains open and Osimhen has still not accepted the Al Hilal proposal.”
Italian outlet Sky Italia also reported that Osimhen recently turned down a second lucrative offer from Al Hilal, estimated at around £25m per year.
The Saudi side, now managed by former Inter coach Simone Inzaghi, have been aggressive in their attempt to sign the striker ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 15. Their initial proposal, worth approximately £22m annually, had also been rejected.
“Victor Osimhen’s future is still uncertain after he rejected Al Hilal’s latest contract offer worth around £25m per year,” Sky Italia reported.
“The Saudi Pro League club want to sign Osimhen from Napoli before the Club World Cup. They have already appointed Simone Inzaghi as head coach after he left Inter.”
“But Osimhen has now rejected two proposals from Al Hilal – the first of which was worth nearly £22m per year.”
Sky also indicated that Napoli are yet to reach an agreement with Al Hilal regarding a transfer fee. The Serie A club had previously rebuffed a first bid and are reportedly holding out for a figure close to Osimhen’s release clause of £63 million.
Despite the Saudi interest, Osimhen has yet to commit to any move, keeping his options open for a return to Europe’s top leagues.
