The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing a Performance Management System that will assess civil servants based on daily output and measurable results.
The Permanent Secretary, General Services in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Nnamdi Mbaeri, made this declaration during a three-day workshop on “Administrative Excellence Through Ethics, Discretion and Result-Driven Service” held in Abuja on Thursday.
Speaking to participants, Mbaeri said the era of lax office routines is over, stressing that performance-based evaluations will now guide promotions, rewards, and recognitions in line with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 2021–2025).
“Times are gone when people could come to the office and waste hours without showing any level of productivity.
“This new system will track officers daily and reward high performers accordingly, “Mbaeri said.
He explained that the training was not only designed to sharpen administrative skills but also to align officers with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, which emphasizes efficiency, ethics, and accountability in public service.
Highlighting the tangible outcomes of the ongoing reforms, Mbaeri noted that civil servants who undergo the training will be considered for higher responsibilities and leadership roles.
“This workshop is part of our strategic push to build a smarter, more responsive civil service.
“Those who excel will be recognised—through promotion, material rewards, or official commendation. This is clearly embedded in the pillars of the FCSSIP, ” he said.
Also speaking at the event, Dr. Eugenia Ndukwe, Principal Consultant and Managing Director of XEM Group, underscored the importance of the workshop in embedding ethical leadership and service excellence.
He said, “Our goal is to empower civil servants with the tools, knowledge, and ethical foundation to deliver high-impact service.
“We’ve carefully designed this training to help them navigate modern administrative challenges with professionalism and purpose.”
