Canadian varsity honours Nigerian lecturer

A Canada-based Nigerian lecturer, Dr Taiwo Afolabi, has been named a 2025 3M National Teaching Fellow by the University of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Dr Afolabi is an Associate Professor of Theatre and Canada Research Chair in Socially Engaged Theatre at the university.

According to a post on its LinkedIn page during the week, the University of Regina notes that the award is Canada’s most prestigious recognition of excellence in educational leadership and teaching at the post-secondary level.

Dr Afolabi is just one of 10 educators nationwide to receive the award in 2025.

Reacting to the honour via a LinkedIn post, the don appreciated everyone in his cycle who contributed to the esteemed award, adding that it was a joint feat.

“I am humbled to have been selected for this esteemed award,” he said. “It is evident that the success of this endeavour is a collective achievement.”
