Anambra First Lady, Dr Nonye Soludo, has advocated the adoption of green solutions as sustainable measures and commitment to the protection of the environment from all forms of hazards and pollution.
Soludo stated this in a press statement she released on Thursday in commemoration of the 2025 World Environment Day, themed “Beat Plastic Pollution.”
She said this year’s theme encourages people to adopt sustainable actions and spread awareness on stopping biodiversity loss, reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, cutting down plastic waste, and ultimately saving the environment.
According to her, there must be deliberate and collective action in prioritising the mandate of strengthening the country’s environmental space and ecosystem for the overall wellbeing of the environment.
She said, “Our environment is the closest bond we share with nature. How we treat it is really important. What we give it, it gives us back. As concerns rise about human negligence to the environment, which has caused so many harms to humanity and nature.
“We are all called to action to review our attitudes toward the environment and save our planet from the growing climatic threats and environmental risks.
“Today, as we join the global community to commemorate ‘World Environment Day,’ we have been called to take bold actions, drive practical advocacies, and support green solutions for the overall well-being of our environment.
“This year’s focus on #BeatPlasticPollution encourages us to adopt sustainable actions and spread awareness on stopping biodiversity loss, reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, cutting down plastic waste, and ultimately saving our environment.”
