Manchester City have officially signed Algerian international Rayan Aït-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a five-year contract, the club confirmed on Monday via its website.
The 24-year-old left-back becomes Pep Guardiola’s latest addition to the squad, arriving with Premier League experience and an attacking mindset that aligns with City’s high-tempo style of play.
Aït-Nouri has faced Manchester City eight times as a Wolves player, with only one win and seven defeats. Now on the other side, he expressed excitement about joining the club he has long admired.
“It will be crazy because we know this squad is top, top level,” said Aït-Nouri. “Every player I played [previously] against at City and when I played against them, it was always very hard because we know the quality of the players is incredible. For sure, I want to learn with them in the training and in the games.”
The Algerian is also set for a reunion with Portuguese midfielder Matheus Nunes, a former teammate at Wolves.
“I have spoken with him,” Aït-Nouri said. “We were always together when we were at Wolves. I spoke a little bit with him, and he told me about the city – we didn’t speak about the football, we spoke about the city and the life in Manchester, and I am very excited to join up with Matheus again.”
City are expected to integrate the new signing into their pre-season plans as Guardiola continues to refresh his squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
