Sevilla striker Akor Adams has cut short his holiday as he returns to the club to continue his recovery from injury before the start of the 2025/26 campaign, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The 25-year-old forward joined Sevilla from Montpellier in a €5.5m deal in January, but he was hampered by injury for most of the second half of the season, limiting him to just four La Liga appearances.
Adams has been on holiday in Tanzania but returned to Seville for medical evaluations and physical therapy, working closely with the club’s rehabilitation staff.
He also shared his recovery progress on social media, emphasising his commitment to being fully fit for the start of preseason training in July.
PUNCH Sports Extra reports that Sevilla will put their faith in the talented Nigerian forward to lead their attack next season.
The Nigerian will face competition from Isaac Romero and returning loanees Kelechi Iheanacho and Rafa Mir.
Despite his underwhelming second phase of the campaign, Sevilla are said to be offering Adams the opportunity to start afresh ahead of the upcoming campaign.
However, it might be said that the club’s dire financial situation could be one of the reasons for the decision.
With the hope of a full pre-season under his belt, Adams will be expected to play a key role under the club’s next gaffer, with Imanol Alguacil and other candidates being linked with the vacant managerial role to replace the departed Joaquín Caparrós.
Adams, who put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year deal in January, is contracted to be with the Andalusian side until the summer of 2029 and remains a part of Sevilla’s long-term planning.
